Past years

I played a toy piano.

My grandfather gifted me a mahogany KAWAI upright piano.

From the age of 5 to 17, I studied piano with a neighbor - an elderly women who always wore colorful clothes and loved both the piano and the Electone.

I played electric bass in a rock pop band during high school.

I joined one of the piano clubs at my university.  Without a teacher, I played pieces that I wanted to play.  I also enjoyed listening to performances by members and friends of classical pieces, Jazz, popular, etc.

I purchased a Roland digital piano to play at night after work.

I worked as ... (Job 1).

I studied Jazz with a bearded man who worked as a writer and translator.

The reason was not that I particularly liked jazz - in fact, I hardly listened to it until then, he introduced me to works of famous jazz musicians.

Rather, I wanted to uncover the secrets of Debussy's music, and I thought learning jazz would be as a shortcut compared to the three thick harmony books (the famous red, yellow, green and black series in Japan - although later I went through them very roughly, reaching the first problem of the final chapter - I might not be able to solve problems today).

I worked as ... (Job 2).

I studied Jazz and Popular piano and theory at KAWAI Omotesandou under a highly energetic and fast-talking female teacher - it turned out that she was a graduate of my university.

I worked as ... (Job 3).

I joined a small free jazz (?) ensemble led by a colleague and enjoyed playing during weekends.

I worked as ... (Job 4).

I resumed classical piano lessons as an adult at KAWAI Omotesandou rather than continuing with Jazz.  The Jazz piano teacher introduced me to a classical piano instructor.

She taught me how to read scores meticulously and play with greater elegance.  I played pieces which I had wanted to play but I couldn't master on my own as well as pieces which she recommended.  I continued lessons until her mandatory retirement age.

I acquired a KAWAI digital piano to replace my previous Roland digital piano after some keys stopped sounding.

I acquired digital piano KAWAI CA5900GP to replace my previous KAWAI digital piano after some keys stopped sounding (again).

I worked as ... (Job 5).
